Cedric Tiberghien returns toAustralia with The Cage Project

Cédric Tiberghien once again joins forces with percussionist and sound artist Matthias Schack-Arnott for The Cage Project - a reimagining of John Cage’s Sonatas and Interludes. Schack-Arnott’s kinetic sound sculpture hovers above the prepared piano, moving in sync with Cédric’s performance, creating a mesmerising spectacle that blends sight and sound.

Cédric gives four performances of The Cage Project at Carriageworks in Sydney, with additional concerts next week at Llewellyn Hall in Canberra and the Melbourne Recital Centre. In between, he makes his debut at UKARIA with a recital of Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations paired with Lisa Illean’s Sonata in ten parts.

When Cédric debuted The Cage Project in 2023 at the Adelaide and Perth Festivals, it was celebrated by critics, with Limelight calling it “engagingly playful, richly emotional and deeply meditative” and Glam Magazine giving the performance five stars. Watch an excerpt from The Cage Project here.
